Once the Toronto Maple Leafs season came to an end in Game 7 vs. the Florida Panthers in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the countdown to the start of the Mitch Marner sweepstakes unofficially kicked off. Marner is the biggest name available in free agency, which opens on July 1. Despite his playoff struggles (63 points in 70 playoff games), Marner is coming off his first 100-point season and is among the best offensive players in hockey. There will be no shortage of suitors trying to land his signature, especially with the NHL salary cap jumping from $88 million to $95.5 million this upcoming offseason.
