Poor starts have become a growing theme with the Golden Knights this season. Vegas ranks 21st in the NHL, scoring first in 47.7% of games. This is similar to teams like San Jose, Detroit, Ottawa, both New Yorks, and Seattle. However, unlike most of those teams, VGK have made it a habit of erasing those deficits. The Golden Knights are tied for 1st in the NHL in wins when allowing the first goal with 14 and Vegas’ 14-9-0 record is better than everyone but Washington; the .609 points percentage would be good enough for a wild card spot in both conferences more than halfway through the season.
